Texas: HCSO deputy injured in hit-and-run on Eastex Freeway
A sheriff’s deputy was injured in a hit-and-run accident in northeast Houston overnight.
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, it happened at about midnight early Friday on the Eastex Freeway near Hopper.
Deputies said a Honda Accord smashed into a patrol car pushing that deputy's car off the road and into a fireworks stand. A wooden board actually popped through the windshield.
The deputy hurt his knee in the crash. Investigators said it was a hit-and-run. They were able to tail the car and use a K-9 to track down the suspected driver in a nearby house in the 6300 block of Hartwick.
Deputies found the driver hiding in that house in a child's bedroom.
It is unknown if the suspect was driving while intoxicated, but he will face a charge related to his failure to stop and give information.
