New York: Trooper hit during traffic stop on I-390
A New York State Trooper is recovering after being struck while conducting a traffic stop Tuesday.
Deputies said around 10:00 a.m., Trooper Bradley McEwen was conducting a traffic stop on I-390 at the Lyell Avenue exit.
Michael Russo, 82, attempted to move lanes in order to follow the "Move Over Law," but was unable to do so and could not stop his vehicle.
Russo ended up hitting a guide rail and then struck the State Police vehicle.
Trooper McEwen was taken to the hospital and treated for back pain, while Russo was taken to the hospital for an arm injury.
Deputies said Russo was ticketed for moving from the lane unsafely.
