Florida: Teens accused in Orlando officer's hit-and-run charged as adults

Two teenagers will be charged as adults for the hit-and-run of an Orlando police officer.  Edward Kelty, 17, is accused of running down Orlando Police Officer William Anderson during a traffic stop at the intersection of Kirkman Road qnd Vineland Street. Dash cam video showed Anderson stopping the vehicle and rushing toward the car with his gun drawn. Anderson had been responding to reports of shots fired.

After he was hit by the car Anderson fired shots, one of them hit the driver in the arm. Anderson suffered a traumatic brain injury. He is undergoing speech and physical therapy. Police said Angel Nieves was in the car with Kelty. They said he drove Kelty to the hospital then disposed of evidence, like the steering wheel cover that had blood and fingerprints on it.

A third teenager was arrested, but he is being charged as a juvenile.
