Florida: OPD officer seriously injured in hit-and-run to be released from hospital
An Orlando police officer who was seriously injured in a hit-and-run earlier this month is scheduled to be discharged from the hospital Thursday. Officer William Anderson was responding to a call of shots fired and was trying to make a traffic stop when a passenger in the vehicle took off running. That's when the alleged driver, Edward Kelty, 17, hit the officer with the car and sped off, police said.Anderson has been recovering at UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville and has reached a milestone, where he'll be able to go home authorities said.
