Colorado: Driver who hit, killed, Jeffco deputy pleads guilty in case
A driver involved in a traffic accident that killed an off-duty Jefferson County sheriff's deputy has pleaded guilty to careless driving causing death. Blair Gledhill, 23, of Denver, is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 7 in the death of Sgt. Sean Renfro, according to the Jefferson County District Attorney's Office.
Gledhill pleaded guilty Friday to two counts of careless driving causing injury related to the January traffic incident on a snow-covered U.S. 285 near Conifer.
Renfro stopped to help and direct traffic after a crash, shuttling a family out of one car into his vehicle so they could keep warm and be safe.
Gledhill lost control of her vehicle and crossed over the median, hitting two people — Renfro and a friend — and a vehicle.
A passenger in Gledhill's vehicle was injured, and a state trooper was injured by debris.
She faces a possible jail sentence of one year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.
