New York: Port Authority police officer injured by DWI driver on GWB
A Bronx driver registered a .185 blood-alcohol content — more than twice the legal limit — after his car struck one driven by a Port Authority police officer from behind on the lower level of the George Washington Bridge this morning.
The PAPD officer was stopped near the New York tower with her emergency lights on, conducting a security check, when her SUV was struck by a 2000 Subaru at 5:25 a.m. Ramon Infante “had a strong scent of alcohol on his breath and was unsteady on his foot,” Pentangelo said.
He was taken to the 28th precinct off nearby 123rd Street for chemical/alcohol testing and was charged soon after with DWI and vehicular assault, he said.
The officer was treated at Hackensack University Medical Center for neck and back injuries, Pentangelo said.
