Michigan: Driver falls asleep, hits deputy’s cruiser

A Kent County deputy’s cruiser was involved in a crash Wednesday afternoon. It happened around 2:30 p.m. at Lamoreaux Drive NW and Stoney Creek Avenue NW. Police say the deputy was stopped at the intersection when a 23-year-old Alpine Township man driving a Hummer hit the front end of the cruiser, spinning it around. The driver told police he fell asleep.

The deputy received minor injuries and is believed to be cleared to return to duty.
