Massachusetts: Police officer struck by vehicle in Andover

An officer was hit by a landscaping vehicle while working a traffic detail Tuesday morning.

The incident happened at around 10:15 a.m. According to police the traffic light at Lowell and North Main Street was not functioning properly, so the officer was assigned there to direct traffic.National Grid was on scene working to fix the problem.

The landscape pickup truck hit the the officer, who was conscious while he was taken to a nearby hospital. He suffered minor injuries.
