Indiana: 2 IMPD officers injured by vehicles outside Indianapolis Motor Speedway

Two officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were transported to the hospital after both were struck by vehicles in two separate incidents outside the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Sunday morning. In the first accident, police said a female officer was sitting in her patrol car outside Gate 10 near 30th Street and Georgetown Road, when someone crashed into her police vehicle around 8:30 a.m.

The officer was taken to Methodist Hospital due to complaints of neck pain. She is expected to be OK. Around 9:30 a.m., emergency crews responded to a second accident involving a police officer. Authorities said a car struck a police officer who was riding a motorcycle near 16th and Livingston streets, near IMS. The officer was taken to Methodist Hospital after suffering leg injuries.
