Virginia: State Trooper struck by truck near Richmond
A Virginia State Trooper was hurt when his car and another trooper's vehicle were hit by a tractor-trailer on I-95 north of Richmond. The troopers were on traffic control duty around 12:15 a.m. in Caroline County because of high water on the road, WRIC-TV reported.
State Police say the driver of this rig lost control as it approached a traffic control area on I-95 north of Richmond on June 24, 2015. The injured trooper was taken to VCU Medical Center with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
The truck driver, 67-year-old Nicholas J. Coia, of Florida, was charged with reckless driving. Southbound lanes were closed north of the I-95 Ladysmith Safety Rest Area (near mile marker 108.5) until about 6 a.m.
