Ohio: ODOT worker struck by vehicle
An Ohio Department of Transportation employee was flown to the hospital Tuesday morning after being struck by a vehicle on Ohio 220 near Pleasant Hill Road. According to the Ohio Highway Patrol, a 2007 GMC Sierra ODOT truck driven by George A. Chaney, 58, of Waverly, was headed east on Ohio 2200 when he parked the vehicle to conduct road work.
At about 9:45 a.m., an eastbound 2001 Chevrolet Astro van driven by Charles T. Wolfe struck the left rear of the ODOT truck, traveled left of center and hit Chaney. Chaney was flown by medical helicopter to Grant Medical Center with serious injuries. According to Lt. Virgil Conley of the patrol, Conley was later listed in stable condition. Wolfe was uninjured and the road was closed for around three hours. The crash remains under investigation.
