New Mexico: 2 officers hit by suspect's car, hospitalized
An Albuquerque police officer fired his weapon at a suspect that rammed at least two undercover officers with a car Thursday. The incident took place near the 8400 block of Camino San Martin SW. Major cross streets in the area are Gibson and Unser boulevards. The suspect, Danan Gabaldon, 33, is the same person from the Memorial Day apartment complex shooting, police said. That day police were investigating a tip about a stolen Chevy Tahoe. The suspect drove toward officers, and the officers ordered the person to stop. When the Tahoe didn't stop, an officer opened fire.
On Thursday, undercover officers located Gabaldon in a red sedan on Camino San Martin.
They tried to take him into custody peacefully, but he refused and rammed at least two officers and two police cruisers, according to police. The officers were taken to the hospital with unknown injuries, but are expected to recover.
Officers deployed Tasers and beanbags. One officer fired his weapon, police said, though it's unclear how many shots were fired. Witnesses say they heard three to four shots.
