Kansas: Overland Park police officer injured after car slams into patrol vehicle
An Overland Park police officer was hurt Sunday after being struck during a traffic stop. The Overland Park Police Department says the unidentified officer was struck around 8:45 a.m. at 151st Street and Stearns Avenue. He was on a routine traffic stop when another vehicle struck the back of his patrol car, which then hit him.
The officer was outside the car when the accident occurred. He suffered broken bones, but the injuries are not considered life-threatening. The officer was taken to the hospital. The person driving the car that struck the police vehicle hasn’t been identified. The Kansas Highway Patrol was investigating.
