Illinois: Tow truck driver struck by van in good condition
A Beecher City man injured in a Tuesday afternoon traffic accident near Montrose is in good condition at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, a hospital spokesman said Wednesday.
Chad A. Gelsinger, 35, was standing outside his tow truck when he was struck by a van driven by Mitchell L. Kurtz, 22, of Altamont, according to Illinois State Police. Kurtz, a delivery driver for the Effingham Daily News, fell asleep on U.S. 40, police said. Kurtz was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
