Virginia: Man who hit Virginia police officer with car gets 11 years
A Frederick man who struck a Virginia police officer with his car before being shot has been sentenced. It is reported that 47-year-old Roy Ronald Turner was sentenced to 11 years in prison Thursday. Turner pleaded guilty to striking Frederick officer James Martin in August 2014. In court, Assistant State Attorney Kelly Bruton says Martin, who was working in plain clothes that night, believed Turner was conducting a drug deal and approached to investigate. Turner then struck Martin with his car, leading the officer to fire into the car’s open driver’s side window, striking Turner.
