Tennessee: Officer’s vehicle hit by hydroplaning car on I-40 in Mt. Juliet
A Mt. Juliet police vehicle was hit by another car as the officer was responding to a crash on Interstate 40 Tuesday afternoon. The officer was responding to a car that hydroplaned and crashed near South Mt. Juliet Road just after 1 p.m.
Authorities said another car then hydroplaned into the officer’s patrol vehicle, which was parked on the right shoulder with its blue lights activated. At the time, the officer was out of the car and 100 feet ahead tending to the original crash. He was not injured.
The driver of the second crashed vehicle, an adult female, received minor injuries. The officer had to help her out of the driver’s side window because the crash caused the doors to stop working and there was a large amount of fuel leaking. The Tennessee Highway Patrol responded to the scene to investigate, which is Mt. Juliet police’s policy anytime one of their vehicles is involved in a crash. Further details weren’t immediately released.
