Pennsylvania: Game commission officer struck by fleeing vehicle
A Pennsylvania Game Commission officer was struck by a vehicle as a man attempted to flee from officers in Clay Township early Sunday, police said. Matthew Miller, 21, of Newmanstown, Lebanon County, hit the unidentified official after officers approached a group suspected of underage drinking and burning a campfire on state game lands at about 1:40 a.m., police said.
Emergency crews treated the officer at the scene. His injuries are not considered life threatening, police said. State Police caught up with Miller at his house, where he was found hiding in the attic, police said.
He was turned over to the Northern Lancaster County Regional Police Department and charged with two counts of aggravated assault, reckless driving, accidents involving damage to an unattended vehicle and failure to render aid. Miller was arraigned before District Judge Mary Sponaugle and sent to Lancaster County Prison in lieu of $5,000 bail.
