Louisiana: Orleans deputy struck by driver during traffic stop
An Orleans Parish sheriff's deputy was struck by a driver during a traffic stop Monday morning, and another deputy fired his weapon, according to the New Orleans Police Department. Around 8:30 a.m., the vehicle was stopped near the intersection of Canal and Basin streets, when the deputy was hit by the vehicle as the driver fled. The deputy was not seriously injured, police said. The suspect's vehicle, a Chevrolet SUV, was found at Dumaine and Robertson streets with no one inside, police said. The suspect's condition is not known.
