Texas: Officer Struck By Car During Traffic Stop Remains In Local Hospital
A reserve Valley Mills police officer remained at Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Medical Center in Waco Friday after he was injured when he was struck by a vehicle during a traffic stop Thursday night. Officer Phil Harmon was taken to Hillcrest by North Bosque EMS ambulance after he was struck late Thursday night as he stood along State Highway 6 in Valley Mills. The driver of the car that struck him, Amanda O'Neal, also was taken by ambulance to Hillcrest for treatment, but information about her condition wasn’t available Friday.
A news release issued by Valley Mills police Chief Robert Summers says Harmon, at around 11:05 p.m. Thursday, stopped two 18-wheelers at Hwy. 6 and 10th Street and while he was talking with the drivers, the northbound car struck him. Valley Mills, Clifton and Meridian police, along with Bosque County deputies, a Department of Public Safety trooper and firefighters from the Valley Mills Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene. No citations had been issued as of Friday afternoon, a police spokesman said.
