Illinois: Lincolnwood police replace squad car hit by drunk driver
A police cruiser that was hit by a drunk driver last month while the officer conducted a traffic stop was totaled and will be replaced with a new vehicle. The police car was struck from behind while it was parked on the side of the road near the entrance to Lincolnwood Town Center on March 1 at 12:50 a.m. The officer, who was not in the vehicle during the crash, was not hurt, but the car—a 2011 Ford Crown Victoria with 75,000 miles—was damaged beyond repair. A new 2016 Ford Utility Police Interceptor AWD vehicle will be purchased for $27,154 from Currie Motors of Frankfort, Ill. to replace the car, according to information from the village.
