South Carolina: Old Fort firefighter recovering after being struck by truck
A firefighter with the Old Fort Fire Department is at home recovering and in good spirits after he was struck by a pickup truck Tuesday morning in Dorchester County. The accident happened at 9:35 a.m. at the intersection of Jedburg Road and U.S. 78, according to Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Hannah Wimberly. A Ford F-150 was making a left turn onto Jedburg Road when it struck the firefighter, Wimberly said. The firefighter was treated at the scene, then transported to Trident Medical Center and later released, according to Old Fort Fire Chief Ed Genthert. He remained in good spirits throughout the entire ordeal, Genthert said.
