Massachusetts: Officer Hospitalized After Car Strikes Police Cruiser

A police officer was hospitalized after his cruiser was struck by a car in Falmouth Sunday morning.

Falmouth police said that a 2003 Toyota Corolla hit the cruiser, which had its emergency lights flashing at the time, at 1:45 a.m. on East Falmouth Highway at Baptiste Lane.

The officer and Corolla driver were both taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The officer was blocking the roadway because of a bridge closure, and there were traffic cones, signs and electronic "power flares" by his cruiser, according to police. Police did not say if the driver will be charged. The incident is under investigation.
