Virginia: State Police Trooper Struck in Arlington
A second Virginia State Police trooper was struck on a Northern Virginia highway Tuesday, state police said. A trooper was standing next to a vehicle he had stopped for a traffic violation on the shoulder of Interstate 66 in Arlington, just east of the Beltway/Interstate 495, about 2 p.m. Tuesday, when he was struck by a passing vehicle, state police spokeswoman Corinne Geller said in a news release. The passing vehicle ran off the road and collided with the vehicles stopped on the shoulder, striking the trooper in the collision, Geller said.
