Ohio: Officers Injured In Two Separate Crashes Just Outside Columbus
Three police officers were injured in separate crashes early Friday morning. The first involved a Columbus Police cruiser on Rings Road and Emerald Parkway in Dublin.
Dublin Police say around 12:30 a.m., a car drove through red flashing lights, hitting the Columbus Police cruiser. The police sergeant had a yellow flashing light at the time of the crash. The car slammed into the driver’s side door of the cruiser, forcing the sergeant to climb out through the passenger side door. That officer was not injured.
About 45 minutes later, a Hilliard Police cruiser was involved in a crash on I-270 Southbound between Tuttle Crossing Boulevard and Cemetery Road. Police say veteran officer Ryan Turner and a recruit in training, Officer Hunter Schweickart were checking the speed of a Jeep, when it came towards them. The Jeep crashed into the cruiser, causing damage to the front end of both vehicles.
The two officers suffered minor injuries and were transported to Dublin Methodist Hospital. They were released a few hours later. Police believe the woman driving the Jeep was drunk. She has been identified as 23-year-old Ali Pastorek. She was not injured in the crash. Stay with 10TV and refresh 10TV.com for updates.
