Washington: Troopers Injured in Crashes Along I-5

The first trooper’s car crashed around 9 p.m. after an attempt to stop two cars that were racing just south of Northgate. The collision happened on northbound I-5 at 95th Street. The WSP said the trooper lost control and struck a light pole, which then toppled onto I-5. Roughly a half hour later, a second trooper was struck by a drunken driver, according to officers. That trooper was responding to the first crash in an area coned off to traffic. The driver fled, but was taken into custody and arrested for suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run.
