Virginia: Fire Truck Struck by Tractor-Trailer on I-64

At approximately 0720, a fire truck responding to the 2nd accident was struck from behind by a tractor trailer while slowing to use an emergency crossover from the east bound lanes to access the scene of the 2nd MVC in the west bound lanes. The fire truck was using all of its emergency lights and signaling devices at the time. Neither the three firefighters on the truck nor the driver of the tractor trailer sustained significant injury.

The three firefighters were transported to the hospital as a precaution. The tractor trailer was carrying several hazardous materials including consumer grade pesticides, alcohol, and flammable liquids. The east bound lanes of the interstate are currently closed and are not expected to open for an extended period of time."
