Florida: Clearwater Officer Struck During Charitable Operation
A Clearwater Police officer was rushed to the hospital on Monday after being hit by a van. According to Clearwater Police, the officer was working off-duty traffic detail as part of the Salvation Army's Turkey Giveaway. The accident happened at 1 p.m. near the intersection of S. Highland Ave. and Jasmine Way. Officer Fontayne Egger, a 25-year veteran, was directing traffic on Highland Avenue when a van trying to turn north onto Highland suddenly accelerated and veered into her.
