Canada: 1 Man Dead as Road Crew Workers Struck by Car in Alliston
Two workers on a road crew in Alliston were sent to hospital — where one man later died — after they were struck by a vehicle while painting lines early Friday. The OPP says a man and woman were painting lines on Victoria Street just before 3 a.m. when they were struck by a pickup truck. Police say the man — a volunteer firefighter — was airlifted to a Toronto trauma centre with life-threatening injuries. He later died in hospital. The woman was treated at a local hospital and is listed in serious but stable condition.
