Colorado: Two Separate Accidents Wednesday Involved First Responders Who Were on the Scene
Loveland Fire Rescue Authority was responding to a two car slide-off 7:30 a.m. Wednesday near Interstate 25 and U.S. 34, when they spotted another slide-off. Captain Greg Gilbert was one of the fire fighters responding. "Once we had cleared that scene we were returning to quarters and we had passed another accident on 257 and I-25 in the southbound lanes. When we pulled on scene my engineer positioned himself to protect the scene. Had his warning lights on and as he parked the apparatus, we were struck from behind."
Hours before that accident on Interstate 25, a Lakeside Police Department SUV was hit by another vehicle on Interstate 70 early Wednesday morning.
