Georgia Officer Struck by Suspected Drunk Driver Improving
Police say that the officer that was struck by a motorist late Friday night is improving and may be moved out of the ICU sometime early next week. A spokesperson for the Georgia State Patrol says Officer Beckles was working traffic near the Northside Parkway ramp for Interstate 75 when a 2011 Hyundai Sonata slammed into his patrol car. They say Scott Eugene Welker, 45, was drunk behind the wheel of that car. He has been charged with driving under the influence and was being held at the Fulton County Jail on $58,000.
