Alabama: Soft Drink Truck Overturns on I-65; Deputy Hurt in Second Crash
A commercial truck carrying a load of Mountain Dew soft drinks crashed and overturned along a stretch of Interstate 65 in Lowndes County early Wednesday morning. Authorities subsequently made the decision to shut down the southbound lanes marker 148 between Letohatchee and Fort Deposit. Those lanes reopened around 12:30pm, approximately eight hours after being closed. The truck driver was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with injuries. No other details concerning his condition are currently known. A second crash occurred at the scene around 5:35am when a vehicle collided with a Lowndes County Sheriff's patrol car.
