Knoxville Police Department: Tennesse Trooper Rescued From I-40 Crash as Flames Consumed Cruiser
A Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper struck by a passing flatbed rig on Interstate 40 early today was freed from the wreckage with mere seconds to spare before his cruiser burst into flames, according to one of his rescuers. Knoxville Police Department officers Andrew Keith and Steve Taylor happened upon the scene immediately after the truck slammed into THP Sgt. Lowell Russell's parked cruiser on the shoulder of the westbound lanes near Walker Springs Road at 2:50 a.m.
