NC Firefighter Struck After Pushing State Trooper Out of Harm's Way

There was no time to think as the truck rocketed toward Wallace firefighter Dave Campbell and state trooper Allen Dezso on Interstate 40 early Wednesday morning.

As the truck hit the median where they were standing, Campbell shoved Dezso out of the way, then was struck by a rebounding guide rail cable and thrown into the side of his fire truck so hard he crushed the door. Campbell in a nationally known fire Investigator and instructor and is a volunteer at his local fire department.
