IL Driver Killed in Harvey, 2 Charged in Edens Crashes

Two separate car crashes happened near the same exit on the Edens Expy. early Thursday. And in south suburban Harvey, an elderly man was killed when his car struck a building. First, police said an Evanston man sparked a three-car crash by driving in the wrong direction on the Edens, just south of Peterson Avenue. About 1½ hours later, police said, a man apparently fell asleep behind the wheel and smashed into a state trooper's vehicle, also close to the Peterson exit.
