DELAWARE WOMAN ARRESTED FOR STRIKING PATROL CAR WHILE INTOXICATED
Police arrested a Frankford woman with a suspended license after she struck a patrol car while intoxicated in Millville. Delaware State Police say two troopers escaped injury after their patrol car was hit struck by an impaired driver Friday night.
According to police, a fully marked 2007 Dodge Charger driven by a recruit trooper and a field training officer stopped on the eastbound shoulder of Atlantic Avenue waiting for traffic to clear. As the troopers waited to make a u-turn, an eastbound 1998 Ford Escort driven by Deborah G. Harding, 49, of Frankford veered right and struck the left rear of the marked patrol car, police say.
Investigators say all involved in the accident were wearing seatbelts and not injured. According to authorities, Harding was charged with driving under the influence, careless driving, driving while suspended and no proof of insurance.
The patrol car sustained approximately $4,000 in damage while Harding's vehicle sustained approximately $2,000 in damage, police say.
