COLORADO D.O.T. WORKER HIT BY CAR ON I-70
A CDOT worker was taken to the hospital Sunday after being hit by a car while working along Interstate 70 near Frisco. The Colorado State Patrol said a 1996 Honda Accord ran off the left side of the road straight for the worker. The worker, Rick Lee, 42, of Georgetown, jumped over the cable barrier and was struck midair by the car.
Lee was taken to Summit Medical Center in Breckenridge with severe bruising and lacerations, said CDOT spokeswoman Stacey Stegman. Investigators said the driver of the Honda, Ashley Webb, 18, from Grand Junction, fell asleep at the wheel and will be charged with careless driving causing bodily injury.
Stegman said Webb was driving with a suspended license. She was not injured in the accident, said Master Trooper Ron Watkins of the Colorado State atrol.
