SUSPECT TRIED TO RUN OVER ARIZONA OFFICER

A vehicle-theft suspect has been arrested after allegedly trying to run over a Department of Public Safety officer along Interstate 10 Sunday near Casa Grande. DPS says the driver of a stolen Honda pickup failed to yield to a DPS patrol vehicle and the situation quickly became a pursuit.

During the pursuit, DPS said, the suspect attempted to drive over a DPS officer who was out of his patrol vehicle.

The officer was able to get out of the direct path of the suspect vehicle but was struck slightly on the right leg. DPS pursued the stolen Honda westbound on Interstate 10, to State Route 84, back onto Interstate 10 and then onto State Route 287, where it ended with the suspect pulling over. The suspect fled to a nearby residence but was apprehended by officers. DPS says the driver is facing various felony charges.
