IDAHO POLICE OFFICER HIT BY CAR

Meridian Police Officer Will Stoy is in fair condition at St. Alphonsus Hospital in Boise. According to officers, Stoy was hit by a car while he was trying to help another driver move their broken down car out of the road. The crash happened around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday near the intersection of Ustick and Eagle Road in Meridian.

Stoy was in the process of helping move a disabled vehicle out of the road when he was hit from behind by a woman driving a four-door sedan. Stoy was conscious and breathing but was taken by ambulance to the hospital. The extent of his injuries are unknown at this time. No one else was hurt in the crash.

The driver who hit Officer Stoy was questioned by police. Idaho State Police are continuing to investigate this crash. It is unknown if the driver will be charged. Idaho does have a law that requires all drivers to slow down and move over when there is an emergency car or police car assisting another driver on the roadway. It is unclear if that law was followed. The name of the driver has not been released.
