AUSTRALIAN POLICE OFFICER HIT BY CAR IN BRISBANE

A POLICE officer has been knocked down by a car he pulled over on Brisbane's northside this afternoon. The car came to a stop on Gympie Road, Chermside, about 4pm today, but it knocked down the officer before he could speak to the driver and sped off, police said.

It hit several cars and was involved in a crash with another vehicle on Gympie Road, Aspley. The driver again sped away from the scene with police in pursuit, police said. The chase was called off, but three people were apprehended about 40 minutes later when their car crashed into traffic lights on Hoyland Street, Bald Hills. A man and two female passengers were assisting police with inquires this evening.
