TEXAS POLICE OFFICER HIT BY VEHICLE

A Belton Police Officer was investigating a car accident when he was hit by a car just before 7:00 Wednesday morning in Charter Oak near Old Temple Road.

Just before 7:00, officers from the Belton Police Department were dispatched to a car fire at Summer Fun USA. When they arrived they were unable to locate the vehicle. They checked the area and located it in the 5600 block of Charter Oaks in Temple.

While working at the scene of the vehicle fire, one of the Belton Police Officers was struck by a 1993 White Cadillac Deville driven by 83-year-old John Kelley. The officer has been identified as 29-year-old Dane Kantro who was treated and released from Scott and White Hospital. The investigation into the collision is ongoing and no charges have been filed at this time.
