NEBRASKA OFFICER HIT WHILE DIRECTING CREIGHTON GAME TRAFFIC
An Omaha police officer was hit by a car while directing traffic after Tuesday night's Creighton basketball game. Police said Officer Pat Telley, an 11-year veteran of the force, was standing near 10th and Cass streets. He had just stopped traffic to allow a bus to pull out.
Daniel Smith, 60, didn't stop and drove into the intersection, knocking Telley to the ground, police said. Smith kept driving and was stopped by another officer near Abbott and Riverfront drives and booked on suspicion of leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, police said. Telley was taken to Methodist Hospital, where he was treated and released for his injuries.
