IOWA STATE PATROL OFFICER HURT IN I-380 CRASH
Interstate 380 northbound is restricted to a single lane of traffic just north of the 76th Avenue SW overpass after an Iowa State Patrol car was rear-ended during a traffic stop today, leading to other crashes involving a total of seven cars. According to reports, the accident happened about 2:25 p.m. when the patrol officer's squad car, parked on the shoulder of the interstate, was struck by another car.
Seven cars were involved in total, including three in the patrol car crash and four others in two separate, related crashes in the vicinity. The Patrol officer was being taken to a hospital by a colleague, according to reports at the scene. One other person was taken to a hospital as a precaution.
