WATERLOO, IOWA POLICE OFFICER HIT WHILE INVESTIGATING ACCIDENT

Officials say a Waterloo police was injured when he was hit by a car -- while investigating another accident. According to the Iowa State Patrol, Officer Tim Everett was struck while standing outside his patrol car Monday night. It happened on an off ramp of a highway.

Troopers say Everett's squad car was parked with the emergency lights on. Officials say another car approached, and was going too fast for the conditions. The car hit Everett's patrol car, and Everett was thrown into a ditch. Everett was taken a hospital. Police say his injures don't appear to be life threatening.
