TWO SOUTH CAROLINA FIREFIGHTERS STRUCK BY PICKUP
Two firefighters were struck by a pickup as they tried to help a woman stopped in the road Monday morning. Firefighters Jodi Howard and Willie Pelzer were taken to Palmetto Health Richland, where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released, Deputy Fire Chief Aubrey Jenkins said.
Jenkins said the lights on their firetruck were flashing to warn motorists. The pickup driver apparently drove around two cars that had stopped for the firetruck, authorities said. It then struck the men and the disabled car.
The unidentified driver was charged with driving too fast for conditions, Jenkins said. A young male and a baby were in the disabled car, he said.
