TRACTOR-TRAILER HITS TENNESSEE TROOPER AND FLEES SCENE
Tennessee Highway Patrol Troopers need your help to catch a hit and run tractor trailer driver. An 18 wheeler hit a trooper's car late Saturday night.
It happened on I-75 north at near Riceville, TN. Trooper Charles Melhorn was sitting inside his patrol car when he saw the semi rip his door off. He had just walked back to his car from helping a driver secure his tail pipe.
Melhorn called dispatch and said, "I've just been struck on the interstate by an 18 wheeler. I'm ok. He tore my passenger side door off. I can't do anything. I can't leave the scene."
Investigators are looking for a Western Express truck with a white trailer and a dark cab with damage to its right side. If you have any information, call the Tennessee Highway Patrol or call Crime Stoppers at 698-3333.
