TEXAS POLICE OFFICER'S CAR STRUCK
A police officer suffered minor injuries early this morning after his car was struck by an alleged drunk driver. Officer Max Longoria had pulled over to the side of Expressway 83 near the "I" Road exit at about 2:30 a.m., when the driver of a Mazda Tribute plowed into the rear of his cruiser.
The crash sent the police cruiser careening into an empty Jeep Wrangler that Longoria had pulled over moments before, said Pharr police Lt. Guadalupe Salinas. The driver of that vehicle had just been arrested and removed from the scene also on suspicion of driving drunk.
The Mazda's driver was also taken to the hospital, but police did not elaborate about his condition early this morning. He is expected to be released and arraigned in municipal court later this afternoon. Reports indicate the care had been crushed.
