OMAHA POLICE OFFICER INJURED, PARTNER SHOOTS VEHICLE

An Omaha police officer was taken to the hospital Sunday morning after he was hit by a car near 42nd Street and Kansas Avenue. The officers were checking on an injured person in a tan 2007 Dodge Intrepid around 3 a.m. when the driver sped off.

One officer was clipped by the vehicle, injured, and then taken to Methodist Hospital where he was treated and released. His partner shot at the vehicle several times as it went away, striking the rear window, said Officer David Spizzirri.

The vehicle was later found at Martin Avenue and Redick Avenue abandoned.
