MINNESOTA OFFICER HIT BY TRUCK WHILE ASSISTING VEHICLE
A Burnsville police officer is in the hospital after he was hit by another car while investigating a traffic accident. According to Burnsville Police, Officer Christopher Biagini, 24, was responding to a traffic accident on Burnsville Parkway and Nicollet Avenue at about 3:50 Monday afternoon. Biagini was standing next to a vehicle's driver side door, when another car that was passing lost control and hit Biagini.
During the accident, Biagini's portable radio was crushed, so he was not immediately able to call for help. The teenage driver who lost control and hit Biagini was not injured, nor was the driver of the vehicle that the officer was assisting.
Authorities say Biagini sustained non-life threatening to both his legs and is being treated at Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville, where is currently listed in good condition. The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating the accident while Burnsville Police are asking motorists to please slow down. They say most of the accidents that are occurring in this weather are preventable, and that many people are driving to fast for conditions.
