CHICAGO POLICE OFFICER STRUCK ON WEST SIDE

A Chicago police officer was struck by a vehicle and seriously injured Tuesday night on the city's West Side. The incident occurred about 6:30 p.m. in the 5100 block of West Congress Parkway in the South Austin neighborhood, said Officer JoAnn Taylor. Details on the circumstances were not immediately available.

The officer was taken to Stroger Hospital, Fire Department Cmdr. Will Knight said. No one else was hurt.
