BIKE OFFICER STRUCK IN HAWAII
Police tonight arrested a 33-year-old man in Waipahu for investigation of attempted murder on a police solo bike officer, who was injured when he was struck by the suspect's car on the H-1 Freeway near the Kaonohi Street overpass. The male officer was taken to Kapi'olani Medical Center at Pali Momi in stable condition, police said. He was treated for injuries and later released, police said.
The incident in the westbound lane of the freeway occurred at 5:45 p.m.
Police arrested the suspect at his Pupukahi Street residence in Waipahu at about 6:30 p.m. According to police, the man allegedly reversed a car into a solo bike officer, who was trying to stop the motorist in traffic. The suspect drove off. The man may have been driving an unreported stolen car.
